Re-engage and re-energise the business community

I am immensely proud to be presiding over the 14th staging of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry's trade exposition, which is a well-established staple on Western Jamaica's business calendar.

Expo 2011 promises to deliver great things to sponsors, exhibitors and patrons as we 'Unleash Innovations' in keeping with the theme of the initiative. We have incorporated businesses from all sectors of the Jamaican economy, while Expo 2011 will unfold at its new home - the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall.

The mix of exhibitors has ensured that we have created a business environment that will be most conducive to solid networking opportunities and innovative methods for companies to present their businesses to the wider public, while making it most informative and entertaining for everyone.

The chamber, through the expo, is seeking to maintain the momentum of sectors in the economy that are growing and to kick-start areas that need a little push. We at the chamber are on a course to re-engage and re-energise the  business community especially small- and medium-size enterprises and to provide as much as possible the necessary tools and information to support these businesses during these challenging economic times.

In spite of the times we have to remain focus and not lose hope, as business people we have to do all that is necessary to maintain our businesses and seize the opportunities as they arise.

I take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors - Columbus Business Solutions, JPS, TVJ, Carreras Limited, FedEx, The Gleaner Company Limited, Ward's Power Tools & Supplies, Seaboard Marine, Jamaica News Network (JNN), Power 106 FM, FAME 95 FM, RJR 94 FM and the Western Mirror for their vote of confidence in this vital trade exposition. I extend gratitude to all exhibitors for partnering with us and welcome to you patrons of Expo 2011.

Already, we at the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry are looking to an even more enriching Expo 2012.
